Susan Sloate co-authored (with Kevin Finn) the 2003 #6 Amazon sci-fi/fantasy bestseller, FORWARD TO CAMELOT. The alternate history of the JFK assassination has taken honors in 3 literary competitions and was optioned by a Hollywood film company. The sequel, DYING WITH THE STARS, is a current murder mystery played out on the set of a glamorous Hollywood television show.

Susan's latest novel, STEALING FIRE, was a semi-finalist in the 2008 & 2009 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contests.

She has authored 17 young-adult books for publishers like Bantam, Ballantine, Fawcett Columbine and Little, Brown. Her recent biography for Bearport Publishing, RAY CHARLES: FIND ANOTHER WAY!, won the silver medal for Multi-Cultural Non-Fiction at the 2007 Moonbeam Children's Book Awards.

She has also been a sportswriter, and her 1991 screenplay, WALTZING ON WALL STREET, was optioned by Paradigm for television production.

She has written and co-directed two one-act stage plays, SWEET NOTHINGS in 1994 and HE SAID, SHE SAID in 2006.

Her short non-fiction piece, "I Saw the Face of America", appeared in CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL OF AMERICA (2002).

She has appeared in recent volumes of WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA, WHO'S WHO IN ENTERTAINMENT and WHO'S WHO AMONG AMERICAN WOMEN.

She lives outside Charleston, SC.
